Professor Rodda is a Professor with the University of the Sunshine Coast and supervises an international arthroplasty fellowship that attracts surgeons from around the world seeking advanced training in anterior hip replacement, muscle-sparing knee replacement, robotic-assisted surgery, patient-specific instrumentation, and kinematic alignment. He works closely with the University of the Sunshine Coast's clinical trials program and has participated in multiple clinical studies evaluating emerging therapies for osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal disease. He is currently leading the development of the Graduate Certificate in Anterior Hip Replacement at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Listed most recent first. Every paper links to its published record, so each one can be checked at source rather than taken on trust. Four threads run through the list and they map onto what happens in the practice: reducing the physiological hit of the operation, getting the implant in the right place, optimising the patient before surgery, and patient experience and education. Research output is one of the few externally verifiable signals of a surgeon's engagement with their field: a publication has a DOI, a journal, named co-authors and a date.

About this grant
This is work on whether machine planning can improve the accuracy of joint replacement planning before theatre. It is research rather than something offered to patients, and it is listed here because research in progress should be visible as research in progress.

Separately from published research, every joint replacement performed in Australia is recorded by the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry, by implant, by surgeon and by hospital, with the outcome tracked over time. That data is where the figures quoted across this site come from, and it is why implant choice in this practice is made against published national outcomes rather than preference.
