The practice

Subspecialty focus.

The practice is focused exclusively on hip and knee replacement. This laser focus results in a highly refined model of care, where every aspect of the patient journey is curated specifically to the needs of joint replacement patients. It allows the entire team to develop deep experience in this field and to continually refine the systems, pathways and support that surround each patient.

Getting started

Two ways to see Professor Rodda.

If you have a GP referral it comes straight to us and someone will call you. If you do not, our nurse practitioner can see you first, in person or by telehealth, and arrange your appointment.

No-gap arrangements

Professor Rodda works with all funds, and has no-gap arrangements with the following.

Professor Rodda has played a pioneering role in no-gap joint replacement in Australia. He founded Medibank's No Gap Joint Replacement Program in 2019 and has since established no-gap arrangements with HCF and nib, and most recently with Bupa, an exclusive arrangement on the Sunshine Coast.

These arrangements are not based on simply waiving the usual surgical gap. Professor Rodda has negotiated with participating health funds for them to pay the gaps on behalf of eligible members, including the fees of Professor Rodda, the anaesthetist and surgical assistant. Patients also have access to his established peri-operative support and joint replacement pathway, with some health funds also covering physiotherapy.

What is covered varies by fund and by your level of policy, so select your fund to see how the arrangement applies. A written fee estimate confirms your position before anything is booked.

Fund names and marks are the property of the respective funds and are shown here for identification only.

The surgical environment

Purpose-built for orthopaedics. Designed around recovery.

Maroochy Private Hospital was purpose-built with a strong focus on orthopaedics and a carefully curated patient experience. As Founder and Director of Joint Replacement Surgery, Professor Rodda has helped shape a hospital environment centred on wellness and recovery, rather than illness.

That same attention has been given to the people. A strong staff culture has allowed Maroochy Private to hand-pick an experienced team of orthopaedic nurses and clinical staff from across the Sunshine Coast, bringing together people chosen not only for their experience, but for their commitment to the way patients are cared for.

The result is a highly focused environment where the facilities, the team and the model of care are all designed around the joint replacement journey. Consultation, imaging, pre-admission, surgery and follow-up can all take place in one location, creating continuity from preparation through to recovery.

It reflects Professor Rodda's broader philosophy: joint replacement is a journey, not just a procedure.
